Marvel Premier sketch card: Iron Man

Une autre sketch card de la collection Marvel Premier de chez Upper Deck, ici sous forme de making-of. La carte indique le personnage qu’il faut dessiner et j’ai donc commencé par ce premier dessin très basique d’Iron Man. Lequel ne me satisfait pas vraiment, pas trop de force à mon sens, un peu trop posé peut-être. Je prépare donc un autre sketch, auquel j’essaie d’intégrer l’influence de John Romita Jr en utilisant un modèle d’armure distinctif, celui que l’on trouve dans l’histoire portant le titre d’Armor Wars II. (Oui, ça remonte…)

Another sketch card from the Marvel Premier collection by Upper Deck. The card already bears the name of the character so I don’t have to choose one from the Marvel stable. I’m starting with this early rough, which I don’t like, no real energy there, so I’m changing it and trying to have a bit of fun at the same time. I really enjoy John Romita Jr’s work (and Bob Wiacek’s!) from the Armor Wars II run way back when so am going for that particular bulky armor design and try to channel the influence, so to speak. The result is hopefully more dynamic while also being a cool little exercise as well as a tip of the hat.
